Summary
The major gifts manager reports to the assistant state director. This individual is expected to work independently and manage the major gifts fundraising for NARAL Pro-Choice California and California-based donors of NARAL Pro-Choice America.
Responsibilities
Major Gifts
- Manages, cultivates and solicits a portfolio of California-based donors throughout the state
- Responsible for specific major gift revenue generation for all the entities of NARAL (corporation, foundations and political action committees)
- Identifies major donor fundraising opportunities such as receptions and house parties.
- Manages the stewardship of California-based major donors, including solicitation, 1969 Society conference calls, follow-up, and other activities
- Develop the California major gifts budget and yearly revenue projections.
- Responsible for writing and providing donor briefings, special correspondence, proposals and other materials
- Conducts major donor research and prospecting
- Prepares monthly major donor revenue chart, prospect tracking document, and other reports as needed
- Manages the travel schedules and coordinates meeting logistics for president of NARAL Pro-Choice America
Gift and Information Management
- Maintain and responsible for the accuracy of records for all major gift development activities and produces information and reports as needed
- Oversees major donor and event acknowledgment letter process
- Performs other gift management functions as needed
Intern Management
- Reviews intern applications and schedules and facilitates intern interviews
- Supervises major donor interns
Qualifications
- College degree required;
- Three years (+) fundraising or related experience required;
- Strong time management, organizational, planning, and administrative skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
- Excellent communication skills and comfort cultivating relationships with staff, donors, and leadership volunteers;
- Database management experience required, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge proficiency preferred;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required;
- Knowledge of diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce, and sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
