NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Education Foundation mission is to support and protect, as a fundamental right and value, a woman's freedom to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices though education, training, organizing, legal action, and public policy.
NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio recruits interns year-round. We are looking for motivated, pro-choice students to assist in several of our programs. Interns can work in either the Columbus or Cleveland office. There are three internship positions.
Responsibilities:
Educational Outreach Intern
- Distributing educational materials
- Writing sample Letters to the Editor regarding the importance of legislation aimed at reducing unintended pregnancy through increased access to birth control and honest, comprehensive sex education in our schools and access to reproductive health services
- Organizing others to participate in outreach and a letter-writing campaign
- Tabling to distribute information and to collect signatures on the Prevention First Petition and collect names for our Choice Action Network (CAN)
- Coordinate presentations to community groups on reproductive rights issues
- Help with other educational and outreach projects as needed
Research Intern
The research intern will collaborate with staff to create and implement research projects which measure the availability of reproductive health care services in Ohio. Past research projects have included evaluating the availability of Emergency Contraception in emergency rooms and exploring how many companies in Ohio offer insurance plans that include coverage for prescription contraceptives. Research interns will be responsible for helping in all aspects of the program including, creation of the research plan, carrying out of the research and writing up the research for release to the general public.
Website Intern
The website intern will collaborate with staff to update NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio's website and to improve the student section of our website. The intern will also help develop our on-line advocacy and donation program. Updates to the website are done through a Content Management System; basic knowledge of HTML is helpful but not required. The intern must have excellent written communication skills and an interest in web design.
Qualifications:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required for internship positions, as is the ability to work independently.
