Did you know that both houses of the Minnesota legislature went from anti-choice to mixed-choice following the 2006 elections?
As a result of the 2006 elections, the Minnesota House of Representatives experienced a net gain of 13 pro-choice seats, going from 49 to 62. This represents a jump from 36.6 percent of total House seats to 46.3 percent. The Minnesota Senate experienced a net gain of five pro-choice seats, going from 29 to 34. This represents a jump from 43.3 percent of total Senate seats to 50.7 percent.
In addition, both houses of the legislature have elected pro-choice leadership for the new cycle, replacing an anti-choice speaker of the house and an anti-choice senate majority leader.
