Did you know that Governor Rendell vetoed language which would have blocked state use of federal funds for comprehensive reproductive health care information for low-income women?

Last year a Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court panel unanimously upheld Gov. Rendell's use of a line item veto to remove language from a 2005 House budget bill (H.B. 815) that would have prohibited the use of federal funds for the counseling or referral for abortion services.  The language, which was previously approved by the state legislature, would have prevented the state Department of Public Welfare from granting funds to non-profit agencies that provide comprehensive reproductive health information, including counseling and/or referrals for abortion care.
