Public Facilities Restriction

A woman may not obtain an abortion in any university facility under the jurisdiction of the Arizona Board of Regents unless the procedure is necessary to preserve her life.  Ariz. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 15-1625 (Enacted 1981); § 15-1630 (Enacted 1981).

The Arizona Supreme Court upheld this law.  Roe v. Ariz. Bd. of Regents, 549 P.2d 150 (Ariz. 1976).

Medical facilities under a "health service district" program may not administer any drug or employ any other means to cause an abortion. Such facilities may not contract out abortion services.  Ariz. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 48-2212 (Enacted 1972; Last Amended 1993).
