Emergency Contraception

PHARMACY ACCESS TO EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION (EC)

Hawaii explicitly allows pharmacists to provide emergency contraception (EC) directly to women without a prescription.  A pharmacist may dispense EC to a woman under a written collaborative therapy agreement approved by the State Board of Pharmacy.  The collaborative therapy agreement must be between a licensed physician and a pharmacist who has received appropriate training.

MEDICAID COVERAGE OF EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION (EC)

Hawaii provides Medicaid coverage of emergency contraception without a prescription.
