Low-Income Women's Access to Family Planning
Maryland provides increased access to reproductive health care services through a Section 1115 waiver. As part of this waiver, the state is allowed to cover family planning services for 5 years for women who would otherwise lose Medicaid eligibility postpartum.
Beneficiaries of family planning coverage available through the waiver are not required to pay premiums or co-payments for covered services. Covered services include office visits, laboratory tests, contraceptive devices and voluntary sterilizations.
The waiver will expire on May 31, 2011.
