"Thanks" Letter to Pharmacists

Dear Pharmacy Manager:

I was pleased to learn that your pharmacy carries the birth-control product Plan B®. I requested it on [date] at [time] and was told by the pharmacist that you regularly stock the medication.

As you know, Plan B®, a concentrated dose of birth control, can prevent unintended pregnancy if taken within 72 hours of sex. Because of the short time frame in which the medication is effective, it is critical that women who need it can obtain it.

I will be sure to tell my friends and family about the availability of Plan B® at your store. Thank you so much for carrying a product that provides women with a back-up method to prevent unintended pregnancy.

"Spanks" Letter to Pharmacists

Dear Pharmacy Manager:

I was concerned to learn that your pharmacy may not carry the birth-control product Plan B®. I contacted your pharmacy on [date] at [time] and was told that your pharmacy does not carry the medication.

As you may know, Plan B®, a concentrated dose of birth control, can prevent unintended pregnancy if taken within 72 hours of sex. Plan B® is most effective if taken within 24 hours of sex. Because of the short time frame in which the medication is effective, it is critical that women who need it can obtain it.

Having a back up birth-control method to prevent unintended pregnancy is an important option for women in our community. The Food and Drug Administration’s decision to allow adults 18 and older to purchase the product without a prescription could help women in our community prevent unintended pregnancy, but only if pharmacies, like yours, stock it.

I urge you to change your policy and stock this important back up birth-control method.
