I think that access to birth control is so important because it give women automomy to make their own choices about reproduction. Pharmacists have no role in determining who should and should not receive birth control. Their job is to dispense the medication prescribed by a doctor.

It should be up to a woman, and her ALONE, to determine when she would want to have children. A woman should have the same rights as a man and not have to carry the burden independently if an unintended pregnancy would occur. It is emotionally and physically draining and that burden is carried solely by the female. Let's move into the 21st century and begin treating woman as they should be treated - as humans, independently thinking human beings.

Allowing women to control when they have children has allowed them to attain higher degrees of education, pursue careers and gain life experience so that they may reach their goals, and also become better parents when and if they decide to have a child. By making birth control available, many abortions have been avoided, and women have better control of their health. As a future physician's assistant, I believe that birth control is a basic component of healthcare.

I think that access to birth control is absolutely necessary so that women and their partners can exercise precaution againt unintended pregancy. Becoming pregnant is a dangerous consequence of not having access to birth control. It is widely held that education and access to birth control are essential elements for women of reproductive age so that they can make wise choices in their relationships and parenting - and never have to "choose" to have an abortion, and always be able to choose to have a baby...
