NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC Endorses Martin Heinrich in Key U.S. House Contest
Pro-choice organization hails Heinrich's commitment to protect women's freedom and privacyWashington, DC – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, today announced that her organization's political action committee proudly endorsed pro-choice Rep. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) in a key U.S. House race in 2010.
NARAL Pro-Choice America will mobilize its more than 2,600 member activists in New Mexico's 1st District in support of Rep. Heinrich's reelection.
"Rep. Heinrich has a solid record of standing up for women's freedom and privacy," Keenan said. "He is an outstanding advocate for New Mexico's commonsense pro-choice values. Rep. Heinrich's victory in 2008 is one reason the state has an entirely pro-choice congressional delegation – and we want to keep it that way."
NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC contributed $5,000 to Rep. Heinrich for the primary election.
Overall, NARAL Pro-Choice America's political program has helped produce enormous gains for pro-choice forces in Congress, including the combined net gain of 44 pro-choice seats in the House and nine new pro-choice senators in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles. In its 2008 post-election analysis, National Journal ranked NARAL Pro-Choice America second among the nation's top 21 political organizations for its impressive win rate among endorsed congressional candidates in hotly contested races.
