NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC Endorses Scott McAdams
Washington, DC – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, announced that her organization’s political action committee proudly endorsed Scott McAdams for the U.S. Senate and contributed $5,000 to his campaign.
"I am proud to have the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC. I'm the only candidate in this race who fully supports a woman's right to choose: government has no place in a woman's decisions about her body,” McAdams said.
Keenan said voters in Alaska have a clear choice in this race, as McAdams faces two anti-choice candidates: Joe Miller and incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Miller opposes abortion, even in the cases of rape and incest. Murkowski has cast many anti-choice votes during her tenure in the Senate, including a vote to ban insurance coverage for abortion in the new health-care system.
“Alaskans have the opportunity to elect a senator who will stand up for the values of freedom and privacy,” Keenan said. “Lisa Murkowski wants voters to believe she’s the alternative to anti-choice Joe Miller. She’s not. Scott McAdams is the pro-choice candidate in this race. McAdams understands the need to keep politicians from interfering in our personal, private decisions. We are mobilizing our members in Alaska to help move this seat to the pro-choice column.”
Overall, NARAL Pro-Choice America's political program has helped produce enormous gains for pro-choice forces in Congress, including the combined net gain of 44 pro-choice seats in the House and nine new pro-choice senators in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles. In its 2008 post-election analysis, National Journal ranked NARAL Pro-Choice America second among the nation's top 21 political organizations for its impressive win rate among endorsed congressional candidates in hotly contested races.
