NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC Endorses Rep. John Tierney
Washington, DC – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, announced that her organization’s political action committee proudly endorsed pro-choice Rep. John Tierney in his race against an anti-choice candidate in Massachusetts’ 6th Congressional District.
Keenan said Rep. Tierney has a perfect pro-choice voting record. His opponent, Bill Hudak, is touts his anti-choice views on his website.
“Voters in the 6th Congressional District have a clear choice on November 2,” Keenan said. “Rep. Tierney understands the need to protect a woman’s ability to make the personal, private decisions that are best for her and her family. We are mobilizing our members in support of Rep. Tierney. It is critical that this seat stay in the pro-choice column.”
Andrea Miller, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, echoed Keenan’s praise for Tierney’s strong record protecting women’s freedom and privacy.
“From his earliest days of public service, Rep. Tierney has consistently stood up for a woman’s right to choose, including for the most vulnerable among us,” Miller said. “Choice is a key issue in races up and down the ballot in the Commonwealth. We want to ensure that Massachusetts builds on its strong pro-choice tradition by electing pro-choice leaders at all levels.”
Overall, NARAL Pro-Choice America's political program has helped produce enormous gains for pro-choice forces in Congress, including the combined net gain of 44 pro-choice seats in the House and nine new pro-choice senators in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles. In its 2008 post-election analysis, National Journal ranked NARAL Pro-Choice America second among the nation's top 21 political organizations for its impressive win rate among endorsed congressional candidates in hotly contested races.
