NARAL Pro-Choice America Congratulates Sen. Barbara Boxer on Her Victory Over Anti-Choice Candidate
Washington, D.C. – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, praised California voters for re-electing NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC-endorsed candidate Sen. Barbara Boxer, who defeated anti-choice challenger Carly Fiorina.
“Californians stated with clarity that they want to continue to have a senator who stands up for the values of freedom and privacy,” Keenan said. “Throughout this campaign, Sen. Boxer spoke eloquently about her support for a woman’s right to choose, while her anti-choice opponent said she would vote to make abortion illegal. There was a clear choice—and the voters sided with Sen. Boxer. She is a champion for women in the Golden State and across the country, and we look forward to continuing to work with her in the next six years to ensure that women—not politicians—make the personal, private decisions that are best for them and their families.”
NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC contributed $10,000 to Sen. Boxer’s campaign. In addition, the organization also mobilized through email and text messaging its 81,704 member activists in California in support of Sen. Boxer’s re-election efforts. NARAL Pro-Choice America also placed geographically targeted ads on Google and Facebook for Sen. Boxer, ads that were seen by more than 2.6 million voters in the Golden State. The organization featured Sen. Boxer on BlogForChoice.com, its website, and its Facebook page.
