NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC Congratulates Ron Barber on His Victory Over Anti-Choice Candidate
Washington, D.C. – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, praised voters in Arizona's 8th Congressional District for electing NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC-endorsed candidate Ron Barber to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives.
"Voters in Arizona have made the decision to send yet another leader with pro-choice values to represent them in Washington," Keenan said. "Rep.-elect Barber is someone who will respect the fundamental values of freedom and privacy. He will stand up to those who seek to undermine a woman's right to choose. His win reflects this district's commitment to pro-choice policies."
The organization ran phone banks which made nearly one thousand dials, and NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC contributed $5,000 to Barber's campaign.
Keenan also acknowledged the work of Barber's predecessor, former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who stepped down from her post this past January to continue her recovery from a near-fatal attack in early 2011.
"It was an honor to work with a pro-choice champion like former Rep. Giffords," Keenan continued. "Her dedication to her district set the gold-standard for true public service. I look forward to working with Rep.-elect Barber as he builds on this tradition of excellence in public service."
