Did you know that Rhode Island's former governor and first lady are outspoken anti-choice advocates?
On January 30, 2008, then-Governor of Rhode Island Donald Carcieri and his wife Sue Carcieri attended an anti-choice rally inside the State House in Providence, Rhode Island. The State House is where the Rhode Island House and Senate meet. The Rhode Island State Right to Life Committee organized the event, which included religious signs, readings, and prayer.
The former governor and his wife both spoke to the group, assembled to protest the thirty-fifth anniversary of Roe v. Wade. The then-first lady told the group that she and her husband would continue these kinds of efforts after he leaves office.
Two years ago, Mrs. Carcieri helped lead a Catholic prayer rally that called for the end to legal abortion.
