Emergency Contraception
EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION (EC) FOR SEXUAL-ASSAULT SURVIVORS
South Carolina law ensures that sexual-assault survivors receive access to emergency contraception (EC) in hospital emergency rooms. Although the law does not explicitly mention EC, it does require that medical treatment for sexual-assault survivors include "medication for pregnancy prevention if indicated and if desired."
S.C. Code Ann. § 16-3-1350 (Enacted 1997).
