Unable to make all abortion illegal, anti-choice legislators have tried to make abortion services nearly impossible for women to obtain by imposing multiple restrictions on the right to choose. They have used the appropriations process to impose bans on the use of federal funds for abortion services in most situations. In other circumstances, they have imposed broad restrictions on how these funds may be used.
