NARAL Pro-Choice America Pays Tribute to Dorothy Height's Legacy of Leadership
Washington, D.C. –Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, issued the following statement honoring the contributions and leadership of Dorothy I. Height, chair and president emerita of the National Council of Negro Women.
"Dorothy Height's life story is an inspiration and a reminder to all women and men that one individual's determination can lead to great advances for the common good. Ms. Height's legacy of leadership on civil, human, and women's rights spanned more than six decades, from the administration of President Franklin Roosevelt to President Barack Obama. We were proud to stand with her in the struggle to ensure that all women could make the reproductive-health care decisions that were best for them and their families. Ms. Height would be the first to remind us that our work is far from finished—and we will continue to draw on her fearlessness and resolve as we advance policies that reflect the principles of equality and justice to which she dedicated her life."
