NARAL Pro-Choice America Congratulates Board Chair Richard Licht on Appointment by Gov.-Elect Lincoln Chafee
Washington, D.C. – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, praised Rhode Island Gov.-elect Lincoln Chafee, a board member of NARAL Pro-Choice America, for his appointment of NARAL Pro-Choice America board chairman and civic leader Richard Licht to be the director of the state’s department of administration.
“The voters in Rhode Island stated clearly on Election Day that they trust Gov.-elect Chafee to be an independent voice for the values of freedom and privacy, and his appointment of Richard Licht to this senior post reaffirms his commitment to a responsive government,” Keenan said. “We are proud that two of our family members will write a new chapter for Rhode Island’s future. Both Gov.-elect Chafee and Richard are thoughtful public servants who bring all sides together to forge constructive solutions to challenges, and we wish them well as they lead the Ocean State forward.”
Gov.-elect Chafee joined the NARAL Pro-Choice America board of directors in 2008. The organization’s political action committee had endorsed his previous campaigns for the U.S. Senate. Licht, a former state senator and lieutenant governor, joined the organization’s board of directors in 2001.
