NARAL Pro-Choice America Commends Activists Who Stood Up for Planned Parenthood and Its Patients
Washington, D.C. – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, issued the following statement regarding the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s announcement that it would restore Planned Parenthood’s eligibility for grants to help women get breast-cancer screenings.
“We at NARAL Pro-Choice America congratulate our friends at Planned Parenthood, and thank everyone who spoke out for women’s access to basic health care over the last few days. There’s an important lesson from these events: When people stand up for what’s right—on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, email, and in their communities—decision makers must listen. Let’s build on this great victory. Right now, politicians in Congress are trying to take away contraceptive coverage for women. Let’s raise our voices to stop this additional attack on health-care options and score another win for women.”
