NARAL Pro-Choice America Announces Director of Communications
Washington, D.C. – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, announced the hire of the organization’s new director of communications, Tarek Rizk.
“We here at NARAL Pro-Choice America are pleased to have Tarek Rizk join our fantastic communications team,” Keenan said. “Tarek brings a wealth of knowledge, vision and passion for protecting a woman’s right to choose. He joins our team at a truly exciting time: Pro-choice values were a winning issue in the 2012 elections, and next year we mark the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.”
Rizk joins NARAL Pro-Choice America as the former director of interactive services at the Aspen Institute. As a key part of the communications leadership team, he was deeply involved in plotting the organization’s strategic vision and planning major Institute events. Previously, Tarek was deputy director of the Global Interdependence Initiative and a senior communications manager at People For the American Way and People For the American Way Foundation.
“I am thrilled to join the NARAL Pro-Choice America family,” Rizk said. “As a father of a young daughter, I understand the importance of ensuring that she has access to the care and health options she’ll need in life. I am honored to lend a hand to protect women’s reproductive health not only for this generation, but for the generations ahead.”
Tarek graduated from the American University in 1995 with a degree in international studies, focusing on peace and conflict resolution. He will start at NARAL Pro-Choice America on Monday, January 7, 2013.
