STATEMENT: NARAL Pro-Choice President Ilyse Hogue on Justice Sotomayor’s Temporary Order Regarding Little Sisters of the Poor

Statement by Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, on Justice Sotomayor’s temporary order regarding Little Sisters of the Poor

“Women, regardless of where they work, deserve access to the fundamental benefit of contraceptive coverage. Research has shown that 99 percent of Americans have used of birth control within their lifetime, and 99 percent of Catholic women have used some form birth control. This is not only common-sense policy, but vital health care for women. While the Supreme Court did not weigh in on the merits of this case, we’re confident that the court’s decision in the two cases it has agreed to consider this term will turn out in favor of protecting access to this critical health-care benefit.”
