NARAL Pro-Choice America Opens Pro-Choice Action Center
Announces March for Women’s Lives Washington Metro Host Committee
Washington, DC – NARAL Pro-Choice America President Kate Michelman was joined Wednesday evening by public officials including Representatives James Moran and Jerry Nadler and DC City Councilman Jim Graham in a celebration of the opening of NARAL Pro-Choice America’s Pro-Choice Action Center. The Pro-Choice Action Center, located at 1119 F Street, NW in downtown Washington, DC, serves as a hub for the D.C., Maryland and Virginia pro-choice communities to organize and plan for the historic March for Women’s Lives on April 25, 2004.
A highlight of the evening was the announcement by Michelman of NARAL Pro-Choice America’s March for Women’s Lives Metro Host Committee, which includes: Senator Barbara Mikulski, Representatives Benjamin Cardin, Eleanor Holmes Norton, James Moran, Chris Van Hollen, Robert C. “Bobby” Scott and Albert Wynn, DC City Council members Jack Evans, Jim Graham, and Kathleen Paterson, Maryland Delegates Kumar Barve and Brian Feldman, and VA State Senator Toddy Puller.
Michelman thanked the pro-choice leaders for their tireless dedication to protecting the right to choose and their promise to encourage constituents to march on Washington in April to preserve reproductive liberty.
Following remarks by Moran, Nadler, and Graham, Michelman and her honored guests added their own messages to NARAL Pro-Choice America’s blog (http://marchondc.livejournal.com). Michelman, Moran, Nadler and Graham then joined volunteers to place phone calls to prospective marchers.
“Our Pro-Choice Action Center will bring together pro-choice Americans from D.C., Maryland and Virginia to prepare to march on Washington and send the message that we will not let our rights be taken away,” said Michelman.
On April 25, 2004, the greater metropolitan area will be host to an historic number of pro-choice Americans, who will come to this great city to participate in the March for Women’s Lives and protect their fundamental rights.
