Federal Abortion Ban Struck Down in Court

Statement of Elizabeth Cavendish, Interim President of NARAL Pro-Choice America

(Washington, DC) – This is a great decision for today, but it won’t last if George Bush gets his way. He’s been busy remaking the lower courts with judges who are hostile to women’s right to privacy and right to choose, and he’s poised to nominate judges to the Supreme Court who will overturn Roe v. Wade.

NARAL Pro-Choice America knows that the Bush Administration will push this case all the way to the Supreme Court, and we know the Court’s future is up in the air. If Bush gets the chance to fill multiple seats on the Supreme Court, not only this decision, but the fundamental right to choose itself will be at risk.
