NARAL Pro-Choice America Applauds Menendez Selection

Washington, DC - Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, today applauded New Jersey Governor-elect Jon Corzine's selection of Rep. Robert Menendez to serve out the remainder of his term in the U.S. Senate.

“New Jersey’s pro-choice majority should be proud that they will have a governor and two senators who will fight to protect the fundamental values of freedom and privacy,” Keenan said. “Last month, voters in the Garden State - especially women - overwhelmingly endorsed Governor-elect Corzine’s support of a woman’s right to choose. Rep. Robert Menendez brings to the Senate a record of steadfast support for women’s reproductive freedom. We are glad to see him join Sen. Frank Lautenberg, another leader in protecting women’s privacy in the Senate. We look forward to working with them, as well as the other strongly pro-choice members of New Jersey's Congressional delegation.”
