Oregonians Vote To Keep Teens Safe, Reject Anti-Choice Prop. 43
Washington, DC -- Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America commended the voters of Oregon for putting the health and safety of teens first and rejecting Prop. 43, a so-called parental-involvement mandate. NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon and its coalition partners led the campaign to defeat this ballot initiative in the Beaver State.
"This victory reaffirms that voters in Oregon believe in good family communication, and they understand that measures like Prop. 43 would do nothing but endanger our most vulnerable young women," Keenan said. "Oregonians, like most Americans, want real solutions to prevent teen pregnancy and reduce the need for abortion, not government mandates that jeopardize the safety of our teens."
