Statement from Nancy Keenan, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America, on Bush’s Nomination of Michael Mukasey for Attorney General

Washington, DC – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, issued the following statement in response to President Bush's nomination of Michael Mukasey, a retired federal judge from New York, to replace Alberto Gonzales as attorney general.

"The attorney general plays a critical role in protecting Americans’ constitutional freedoms, including the right to privacy. We look forward to hearing Mr. Mukasey’s answers to senators’ questions on how he would enforce federal laws and approach other issues related to a woman’s right to choose."
