In May of 1980 I discovered that I was pregnant with what would have been my second child. I started spotting on a Thursday, and saw my Doctor on Friday. There was no heartbeat and the signs of pregnancy had disappeared. On Saturday morning I started hemorrhaging. I passed approximately 15 fist sized clots. Upon arrival to the hospital, a simple curettage was necessary to save my life. If the “Let them die” bill is allowed to pass, I would have died and my family would have been billed for my emergency room visit. One out of every four pregnancies ends in what is called spontaneous abortion still. This is a totally frightening and appalling bill.
