When I was a teenager, my mother told me that she had an abortion when she was my age. She said the decision was a very hard one and that the aftermath had been difficult. But she said that act changed her life; without the freedom to decide what happened to her own body, her life would have been a very different one and she wouldn't have had me. I am pro-choice because abortion rights allowed my mother to make the most important decision of her life on her own and with privacy and dignity.
