NARAL Pro-Choice America on Charlie Crist Win in Florida

November 4, 2014

“Voters in Florida today sent Governor Rick Scott packing after he made a priority of his personal agenda to restrict abortion access rather than address the issues that remain top-of-mind for Floridians who put him in office. Governor-elect Charlie Crist ran on a platform that trusts Florida women to make their own personal decisions, vetoing a mandatory ultrasound bill and, as a state senator, voting against a mandatory 24 waiting period. We look forward to working with him to advance statewide and national pro-choice initiatives.”

NARAL Pro-Choice America launched a six-figure campaign of direct mail, digital advertising and robocalls to educate voters on Gov. Rick Scott’s record of prioritizing abortion restrictions at the expense of issues Floridians elected him to address. The mail pieces featured a close-up side profile of the governor with a cartoon drawing of a brain illustrating his obsessive abortion restriction focus. View the mail pieces sent to Florida voters.

NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”

Everyone should be able to decide if, when, how, and with whom they start or grow a family.
