Rep. Patrick Murphy Endorsed By NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC
NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC today announced its endorsement of Rep. Patrick Murphy in Florida’s U.S. Senate race.
“Patrick Murphy has consistently fought to defend and expand Americans’ reproductive freedom and we are proud to stand with him in his race for U.S. Senate,” said Sasha Bruce, senior vice president of campaigns and strategy for NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Patrick has been fearless in going up against the anti-choice majority in Congress and pushing back against the Republican-led smear campaign targeting Planned Parenthood and other health care providers. Patrick recognizes that access to a full-range of reproductive health services, including contraception and abortion care, is critical to ensuring American women can define and achieve their own success. Despite abortion rights being supported by seven in ten Americans, our reproductive freedom faces unprecedented threats across the country. That’s why Americans are demanding leaders who are true champions for choice, who will not only defend our reproductive rights but actively fight to expand them. Patrick Murphy is that champion and NARAL Pro-Choice America is proud to stand with him in his race for U.S. Senate.”
Rep. Patrick Murphy has been an outspoken champion for reproductive freedom and has made defending Americans’ constitutional right to choose central to his campaign for Senate. He has been vocal in his opposition to partisan efforts to smear Planned Parenthood and the millions of Americans who receive quality, accessible care through its doors. In addition to his frequent advocacy for reproductive freedom, he is a lead sponsor of the Affordability is Access bill, a NARAL-supported proposal that would build on the contraceptive-coverage policy enshrined in our nation’s health care law by ensuring that health insurance plans cover access to birth control over-the-counter and without a prescription. Rep. Murphy has taken strong stances in support of landmark legislation to lift harmful state restrictions on abortion access (the Women’s Health Protection Act) and to remove federal laws that deny abortion services to women who rely on the federal government for their health care (the EACH Woman Act).
