NARAL responds to Pence RNC remarks

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 20, 2016

Kaylie Hanson Long, National Communications Director for NARAL Pro-Choice America released the following statement after Gov. Mike Pence addressed the Republican National Convention as Donald Trump’s official running mate:

“Thinking about the fact that Mike Pence would advise Donald Trump on how to lead this country – especially after tonight’s speech – sends a shiver down my spine. His dangerous actions in Congress and as governor have negatively impacted women across the country and in his own state of Indiana. Whether it’s leading the state that put a woman behind bars for her abortion, supporting legislation that would let a woman die rather than having an abortion that could save her life, or launching multiple efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, Mike Pence has proven himself an enemy of women and families.

“His comments tonight about the future of the Supreme Court remind us that with Donald Trump in the White House, we can count on a court full of justices that would overturn Roe v. Wade. The only thing we can trust Donald Trump and Mike Pence to do is to erode our basic freedoms that determine if and when and how we want to grow our families.”
