Fmr. Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10) Earns Endorsement of Nation’s Leading Pro-Choice Advocacy Group

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Brad Schneider (IL-10), a proven leader in the fight for Americans’ reproductive freedom. Brad has spent his career standing up for the rights of Illinois women and families and will defend our access to basic health care, including contraception and abortion, in Congress.

“Brad Schneider is a fierce advocate in the fight for our reproductive freedom, and NARAL is proud to endorse his campaign for Congress,” said Joel Foster, national political director of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Brad is a strong leader who has been a relentless advocate for Illinois women and families. He will stand up to the out-of-touch politicians and party bosses who want to roll back our access to basic health care and ban abortion nationwide. Brad’s opponent, Congressman Dold, has spent his time in Congress obsessed with banning abortion and smearing Planned Parenthood. Those aren’t the priorities of hardworking Illinois families, who want their leaders focused on creating jobs and improving the economy, not on rolling back women’s rights. Brad Schneider is the leader that Illinois families deserve to represent them in Washington. NARAL is proud to support his campaign for Congress.”

“I am again honored to receive the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice America, especially in this election when so much is at stake for American women,” said Brad Schneider. “I am proud of my 100 percent pro-choice voting record because Illinois’s 10th District voters deserve a representative who will always support reproductive freedom and will always stand strong against relentless Republican efforts to restrict women’s access to health care.”

Brad Schneider is a steadfast advocate for women’s reproductive freedom. During his time in Congress, Brad supported multiple efforts to expand access to reproductive healthcare, including supporting the Women’s Health Protection Act, a landmark bill that would protect women from laws that place undue burdens on access to basic reproductive healthcare. He also opposed measures that would have allowed employers to refuse to cover their employee’s preventative health care services, including contraception. Brad previously earned NARAL’s endorsement during his 2012 and 2014 campaigns.

Brad’s opponent, incumbent GOP Congressman Bob Dold, has a long track record of pushing policies that hurt women and families. He supported the use of taxpayer money to smear Planned Parenthood with partisan investigations and supported a discriminatory policy known as the Hyde Amendment which disproportionately affects low-income women and communities of color.
