The nation’s leading pro-choice advocacy group today endorsed the strong pro-choice leaders running for Congress in New York. NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC announced its endorsements of Anna Throne-Holst (NY-01), Tom Suozzi (NY-03), Nita Lowey (NY-17), Zephyr Teachout (NY-19), Kim Myers (NY-22), Colleen Deacon (NY-24), and Louise Slaughter (NY-25). These candidates earned NARAL’s endorsement because of their dedication to defending abortion access and advancing the reproductive freedom of all Americans.
“NARAL is excited to stand with New York’s top pro-choice leaders as they fight to bring the voice of hardworking families to Congress,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “For far too long, anti-choice politicians in Congress have put their obsession with rolling back our reproductive freedom ahead of the rights, health, and safety of women and families. When anti-choice politicians push policies that undermine our access to necessary reproductive healthcare, including abortion, it’s clear they don’t share the priorities of women and families. New Yorkers want leaders who will focus on creating jobs and growing the economy. That’s why NARAL is proud to stand with these proven leaders as they stand up for the values of New York families.”
The anti-choice Republicans who control Congress have focused on efforts to ban abortion and roll back the reproductive freedom of all Americans. Anti-choice Republicans in Congress have voted to ban abortion at 20 weeks of pregnancy, restrict women’s ability to access contraception, and have repeatedly voted to defund Planned Parenthood.
