NARAL statement on the Women’s March on Washington

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 21, 2017

NARAL President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement on today’s Women’s March on Washington and sister marches in states across the country:

“NARAL and our one million member activists are so proud to be sponsors of today’s historic events in communities across the country. The diversity driving these marches and the progressive values they represent demonstrate the strength of the grassroots political power at the core of this movement. It also sends a strong message to the anti-choice politicians trying to roll-back our right to access basic reproductive health-care, including abortion. From the state house all the way to the White House, the women and men driving our grassroots power will hold leaders accountable for their actions and will lift up the champions who defend our rights. For today and for the years of fights ahead of us, NARAL is proud to say, ‘March on!’”

NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
