Today, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement in response to President Trump’s executive action defunding the United Nations Population Fund:
“President Trump has once again put his disdain for women and families across the globe front and center. His claim of economic populism rings hollow when he choose to defund this vital program knowing that it will reduce the chances of the world’s poorest women getting out of poverty. This decision is yet another example of a politician putting his dangerous agenda ahead of the freedom and equality of women across the globe. We are deeply disappointed by President Trump’s repeated acts to take away healthcare from those who need it most, including reproductive care that empowers women to choose their own destinies and bear happy and healthy families.”
