With press reports that President Trump may include a provision regarding paid family leave in his budget proposal next week, NARAL cautioned that the devil is in the details.
“Ensuring that Americans don’t go bankrupt when they decide to raise a family is a crucial part of our economic security. But just like we’ve seen with all of President Trump’s grand pronouncements, the devil is truly in the details,” said James Owens, states communications director for NARAL Pro-Choice America. “While Trump has yet to release his actual plan, the rest of his budget proposal makes clear that he intends to make it harder for Americans to raise a family by undermining key social services like health care, housing assistance, and even support for families to keep the heat on during winter. When combined with Trump’s long history of deceiving Americans and undermining our core values, we aren’t holding our breath on his most recent proposal.”
