NARAL Statement on Senate Budget Committee’s Passage of Tax Bill

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 28, 2017

(Washington, D.C.) — In response to the Senate Budget Committee’s vote to pass the GOP tax plan, which includes ideological personhood language and a repeal of the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate, NARAL Pro-Choice America National Communications Director Kaylie Hanson Long issued the following statement:
This isn’t just a tax bill, it’s an ideological attack on women and families that preys on the desire of parents to have affordable higher education while doing nothing of the sort. When the GOP pushes a “tax bill” that destroys the Affordable Care Act, codifies an ideological definition of when life begins, and harms working families, it is revealing that what’s most important to them is to rollback our fundamental rights, not govern in the best interest of the American people.”
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
