NARAL Applauds PA Judge’s Blocking of Trump’s Birth Control Rollback

(Washington, D.C.) — In response to US District Court Judge Wendy Beetlestone’s decision to temporarily block the Trump administration’s new rules allowing employers to deny birth control coverage to their employees, NARAL Pro-Choice America States Communications Director James Owens issued the following statement:

“Every woman should have access to basic healthcare, including birth control. The Trump administration sought to violate this principle in a poorly-masked attempt to impose their fringe ideology on millions of Americans. The birth control coverage benefit was the single greatest advancement in reproductive healthcare in a generation. It gives millions of women more control over their own lives by making birth control affordable and accessible. The fact is that contraception is basic healthcare and is critical to a woman’s ability to determine her own future and plan for her family. NARAL members will remain vigilant in defending this fundamental right.”
