After the Senate voted to confirm Donald Trump’s latest anti-choice judicial appointment David Stras, NARAL Pro-Choice America National Communications Director Kaylie Hanson Long issued the following statement:

“Filling the judiciary with biased, anti-choice nominees that could pave the way for Roe v. Wade to be overturned is antithetical to the idea that our judiciary should be an impartial branch of government that serves to protect the constitutional rights of all Americans. Trump’s greatest success has been stacking the courts against women and families, and David Stras is just the latest judicial appointment who will enact Trump’s out-of-touch agenda for decades to come.”

David Stras is associated with the Federalist Society, a well-known anti-choice group. He is also included on President Trump’s list of potential Supreme court nominees, a list of individuals President Trump promised would overturn Roe v. Wade “automatically.” To learn more about his anti-choice record, visit NARAL’s judicial nominees webpage.

NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
