After Trump released his budget for the next year, NARAL Pro-Choice America National Communications Director Kaylie Hanson Long issued the following statement:
“Budgets reflect priorities, and this budget makes clear that Donald Trump’s is to keep punishing women. This proposal presents a vision for our country that restricts reproductive freedom and decreases economic security for women and families. If Trump and the anti-choice GOP truly cared about women and families, they wouldn’t support a budget that makes life harder for us, and hurts our ability to care for ourselves and our families.
“From installing anti-choice officials at every level of his administration, nominating biased judges to serve lifetime appointments, and now using his budget to roll back our reproductive rights, it couldn’t be any more obvious that eroding women’s rights remains a top priority for this administration and his party. We won’t let voters forget that in November.”
Trump’s budget includes multiple attacks on reproductive freedom, including the defunding of Planned Parenthood and devastating abortion coverage restrictions through the Hyde Amendment. It also eliminates the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, and makes significant cuts to international family-planning services.
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
