Candidate in Illinois’ 6th Congressional District Earns Endorsement from Nation’s Leading Pro-Choice Advocacy Group
For Immediate Release: March 1, 2018
NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Kelly Mazeski in Illinois’ 6th Congressional District. The suburban Chicago seat, currently held by anti-choice Republican Peter Roskam, is considered one of the most competitive races in the country. Roskam holds a zero rating in the most recent Congressional Record on Choice, and has a long history of voting to oppose reproductive health care.
“We need members of Congress like Kelly Mazeski who will stand up for what is right and push back against Trump’s anti-choice, anti-woman agenda,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Kelly Mazeski is a fighter. She’s key to establishing a pro-choice majority in the House of Representatives, and to protecting reproductive freedom for Illinois women. We are so proud to endorse her campaign for Congress.”
“I am honored to receive NARAL’s endorsement in the race to take on Peter Roskam and flip the Illinois 6th Congressional District in November,” said Kelly Mazeski. “Women’s rights are human rights, and I will fight Donald Trump and the Republicans in Congress at every turn to ensure all women have control over their reproductive health. I look forward to working alongside NARAL to stand up to Donald Trump’s dangerous attacks on women and to fight for equal pay for equal work and defending a woman’s right to choose.”
A breast cancer survivor, Mazeski’s life experiences of listening to women’s individual stories have taught her that elected officials have no business making reproductive choices for women. She has pledged to stand up for equal pay for equal work, combat gender discrimination, and protect women’s reproductive rights.
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
