NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Kathy Manning in North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District. The Greensboro area district is currently represented by Ted Budd, a first-term, anti-choice Republican.
“North Carolina women deserve someone who will fight for their rights and against the anti-choice Republican agenda in Congress,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “That person is Kathy Manning. Her commitment to expanding affordable, accessible healthcare for all will be a welcome addition to a Congress that’s been hostile to the idea that every American deserves quality care, including reproductive healthcare. Kathy understands that women must be empowered to make our own decisions about our healthcare, and that’s why we’re proud to support her.”
“North Carolina women and families deserve a champion, not someone like Ted Budd who has voted to take health care access away from women,” said Kathy Manning. “I believe women’s health care decisions should stay between her and her doctor. I have a strong record of standing up for women and families and I’ll proudly do the same in Congress.”
As a community and business leader and activist, Kathy Manning has spent her life fighting for women and families in her community. She has worked to support school readiness programs for children in need, and was the first woman to lead one of the largest charitable organizations in the world, the Jewish Federations of North America. In this role, she helped people who lost their jobs during the Great Recession gain access to food, health care, mortgage assistance and job training.
