NARAL Pro-Choice America congratulates endorsed candidate Rebecca Dallet on her election to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. NARAL Pro-Choice America endorsed Dallet because of her proven track record of justice and fairness, including advocating for women’s rights and reproductive freedom. Nicole Brener-Schmitz, political director at NARAL Pro-Choice America, released the following statement on the victory:
“Today, the people of Wisconsin took an important step towards ensuring that the courts are full of individuals who will protect our basic constitutional right to abortion care and reproductive freedom. Across the country, the anti-choice GOP is actively stacking the courts with justices determined to roll back these freedoms. That’s why there’s never been a more important time to elect people like Rebecca Dallet to the courts. Rebecca has been a steadfast advocate for justice throughout her career, and we are confident she will use her new position to protect our fundamental rights.”
Dallet has spent more than 20 years in Wisconsin court rooms fighting for justice. She has overseen both civil and criminal courts, and spent her career, first as a prosecutor and now as a judge, working to make Wisconsin safer.
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
