NARAL Rejects the Confirmation of Anti-Choice Judicial Nominee Kyle Duncan
After the Senate voted by a slim margin to confirm Donald Trump’s latest anti-choice judicial appointment Kyle Duncan as U.S. Circuit Judge for the Fifth Circuit, NARAL Pro-Choice America Vice President Adrienne Kimmell issued the following statement:
“Kyle Duncan’s confirmation demonstrates that Republicans in the Senate are willing to be complicit as this administration chips away at the rights and well-being of women and families across the country. Duncan’s confirmation proves that the anti-choice GOP, in Congress and the White House, will stop at nothing to further their obsession with controlling women’s lives, bodies, and futures. Today’s confirmation of another one of Trump’s biased, unqualified judicial nominees does a grave disservice to the intended role of our judiciary as an impartial branch that upholds the constitutional rights of all Americans.”
Kyle Duncan is the definition of a partisan nominee. He was the head attorney for Hobby Lobby’s notorious crusade to put bosses in charge of birth control. In this case, he enabled employers to deny their employees coverage of contraception because of their own personal beliefs.
