Incumbent Ohio Senator Earns Endorsement from Nation’s Leading Pro-Choice Advocacy Group

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Sen. Sherrod Brown in his campaign against Congressman Jim Renacci for re-election to represent Ohio in the Senate.

The state of Ohio is in crisis when it comes to accessing reproductive health care including abortion. With extreme a GOP-controlled legislature, anti-choice actors have had free reign to pass cruel and unnecessary legislation that aim to erode a woman’s right to choose. The GOP most recently introduced a bill that would punish women and doctors who utilize certain family planning services. It’s in states like Ohio where women and families need a powerful and compassionate ally like Senator Sherrod Brown who will never stop fighting for their most basic rights.
Sherrod Brown has spent his career advancing the rights of women and families. Brown believes a woman’s reproductive health decisions are between her and her doctor, and he’s repeatedly opposed efforts to take away that freedom. He has also worked to maintain and expand access to affordable birth control and family planning services, including championing efforts to defeat Republican attacks on Planned Parenthood. From protecting a woman’s right to choose to advocating for victims of human trafficking and sexual harassment, Brown’s record has earned him the support of women across Ohio and across the country who know that he will continue fighting for women’s equality and opportunity.
