Incumbent in Kentucky’s Third Congressional District Earns Endorsement from Nation’s Leading Pro-Choice Advocacy Group

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of John Yarmuth in his campaign for re-election to represent Kentucky’s 3rd Congressional District.
“We need members of Congress like John Yarmuth who will stand up and fight for women and families across Kentucky,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “John Yarmuth has been a trustworthy and consistent ally in the fight for making reproductive freedom a reality for all in Kentucky. We are proud to endorse him and look forward to working together to ensure that the basic rights of Kentuckians are protected no matter what.”
“I am proud to have the support of NARAL Pro-Choice America and their more than 1.2 million members in the fight to defend women’s constitutionally-protected reproductive rights,” said Yarmuth. “I will continue to stand up to efforts by the Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress seeking to reduce access to care, return to the days when being a woman was considered a preexisting condition, or interfere in any way in the private medical decisions of women and families.”
John Yarmuth has earned a 100% pro-choice rating from NARAL since he was elected and has been an important vote and voice in Congress, most notably for being a fervent opponent of the Hobby Lobby decision that allowed businesses to opt out of providing contraception. He is also a part of the Pro-Choice Caucus in Congress. Yarmuth will face Governor Bevin’s former Health and Human Services Secretary Vickie Yates Brown Glisson. Glisson led the fight to close down women’s health clinics in the state, succeeding in shutting almost every single clinic down.
