Challenger in New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District Earns Endorsement from Nation’s Leading Pro-Choice Advocacy Group

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Deb Haaland in New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District.
“Deb Haaland has been a true leader and advocate for women and families across New Mexico and we are proud to endorse her,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “New Mexicans deserve a passionate ally who will never stop fighting for them. With the impending threat to Roe v. Wade, and near constant attacks on our most basic rights, it is critically important that we fight to elect leaders who will never waiver on their values. We are going to bat for pro-choice champions like Deb Haaland up and down the ballot in New Mexico to ensure that they win this November.”

Deb Haaland is an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Laguna, and on track to be the first Native American woman elected to U.S. Congress. She has a long history of community activism, serving as the chair of the Native American Caucus for the Democratic Party of New Mexico, and later as the chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. As a single mother, Haaland knows firsthand the hardships facing Americans today. Throughout her career in public service, she has been a vocal advocate for equality. She will fight to expand women’s access to reproductive healthcare services, and ensure proper funding for Planned Parenthood. Haaland is the pro-choice advocate needed in the fight for reproductive justice for all.
