After a new CNN poll released today shows that Brett Kavanaugh is the least popular nominee in recent history, NARAL Pro-Choice America Vice President Adrienne Kimmell released the following statement:
“Only a meager 28% of women believe Kavanaugh should be confirmed, meaning that 72%—an overwhelming majority—understand the damage he will do to our rights, our lives, and our fundamental freedoms.
“Confirming Kavanaugh would wreck the American people’s confidence in the Supreme Court’s critical purpose, and sow doubt in the minds of voters all across the country about who our senators really represent. The American people have spoken, we will not forget a vote to end Roe and punish women. Now it’s time for every senator to come out as a no, or be prepared to pay the price in November.”
Kavanaugh is historically unpopular because he will be a vote to end Roe v. Wade, criminalize abortion, and punish women. Public opinion for Kavanaugh is lower than failed Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers, and the lowest since failed nominee Robert Bork. The poll shows a majority of Americans in favor of the Senate voting no on Kavanaugh, with only 28% of women supporting his nomination.
