NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Aftab Pureval in Ohio’s 1st Congressional District.
“Aftab Pureval will be the champion Ohio’s women and families need and deserve, ” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Reproductive rights are under attack in Ohio like never before and women and families need a leaders who will fight for their best interests. Aftab Pureval will ensure a woman’s right to choose is protected and we will do everything we can to support his election in November.”
“I’m proud to have the support of NARAL and will always stand up for a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions,” Pureval said. “I look forward to working with NARAL and its members to win this election in November.”
Aftab Pureval believes that we must support a woman’s constitutional right to choose safe, legal abortions established in Roe v. Wade. He is the first Democrat to be elected as the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts and has also been active in his community, having become the first man to serve on the board of the Women’s Fund. He is running to unseat incumbent Congressman Steve Chabot, who holds extreme views on choice, and is a lead sponsor of a personhood bill introduced in this Congress. Hamilton County, the more populous county of this congressional district, was won by Secretary Clinton in 2016 by 10 points. This race will be key to securing a pro-choice majority in the Fall.
